Dear Quabena,

thank you for your introduction.
Please write here as often as possible. We have got several subjects to write about - like what makes you angry, beautiful places, what are you doing right now and smile.
Writing in a spontaneous way is the best help you can get.
Reading newspapers is passive. Writing about yourself is active. You will have to use YOUR words, YOUR sentences and things that concern only you.
Example: You want to say: Ich muss zum Zahnarzt. Ich habe Walnüsse gegessen und ein Stück Zahn ist mir abgebrochen:-)))
The newspapers don`t write about such things. You have to write about it and before you write - you will have to think about it or to look it up.
That is the way to learn.
I am here to help you, my dear.
So - write as often as possible.
Mark

I'm Quabena, a 27 years old german of african origin.
I study business administration in berlin and i'm facing some problems concerning english.

I was fluent in english when i arrived in germany some 17 years ago. Since i had to learn the german language which is completely different from english, i nearly "push out" english out of my life.

( I'm writting without a dictionary or any help. please excuse me for spelling mistakes and other mistakes )

English is not my mother tongue but we used it at school because my country was a british colony.
I preparing to go to an english speaking country for an internship, but i'm really afraid because my english is not good enough.
Though i can read newspapers like the NY Times and i understand nearly every sentence, yet i have problems in expressing myself correctly in english.

i need help. do you have any ideas ?
thank you
